CBSA is thrilled to announce the addition of three innovative organizations—Ukukhululeka, SEAS, and Dioloto—as affiliate members. These partnerships mark an exciting step forward in our mission to foster collaboration, sustainability, and economic growth within the circular economy.
Dioloto is a CBS pilot of initially 20 households with urine-diverting toilets manufactured locally. The pilot is an initiative of Tatirano in Madagascar, a social enterprise that has developed a range of water services near Fort Dauphin in Southern Madagascar.
Liquid Gold in South Africa joins us through their CBS brand Ukukhululeka (“be free”), launched in KwaZulu-Natal. Liquid Gold has pioneered urine collections and treatment, and has now expanded its services to include collection of faecal waste, urine and kitchen waste from around 100 in-home toilets, producing black soldier fly larvae and struvite.
SEAS (Sanitation Empowerment & Agricultural Support) in Kampala, Uganda, service around 120 non-diverting in-home toilets, to produce compost. Toilets are sold to customers, and collectors are paid from the sale of compost.
As affiliate members, these organizations will collaborate with CBSA to drive forward impactful initiatives, share knowledge, and champion sustainable business practices on a global scale. Their unique insights and expertise will undoubtedly enrich the CBSA community and accelerate our collective goals.
