Not only was CBSA’s session at this year’s virtual Rich Earth Summit a lively conversation with a dedicated group of urine enthusiasts; our generous friends there have raised a fantastic $5,000 for the Alliance.

The three-day virtual Rich Earth Institute took place over 15-17 September, brought together participants from around to discuss the challenges and opportunities of ‘peecycling’ or using human urine as a resource. Proceeds from the conference have been donated to CBSA.

CBSA presented a session, titled Container-based Sanitation – notes from the field, presenting the work of the Alliance and its member and our experience with managing urine. The lively discussion the followed covered a range of topics from the impact of the covid-19 pandemic, the origin and benefits of the Alliance, how we work with utilities and governments, financing, technical questions and of course lots of questions around the challenges and opportunities of managing urine!

The Alliance has also developed a number of connections following the session and is looking forward to some interesting collaborations going forward.
